What do you think if a friend tells you that they like ‘Art’? Going by my experience, that observation often prompts a shrug of the shoulders and a remark about not really understanding paintings and as a consequence having no interest in looking at them. I suppose there’s also a deep rooted feeling that art is for clever people, or very rich people who can afford to collect it. I have to say that I passionately disagree with this outlook.
