Get an audio cable (red and white on both ends) and hook one end to your audio out on your TV (if it has one), then hook the other end into the audio in on your surround sound. You should then get sound coming from anything hooked up to the TV as well such as TV programming and video games.
Check you home theater system if there is an audio input in the back, either they rca jacks in red and white or an optical cable. Check your tv what audio output it has either rca jacks or optical. Connect either an rca jack cable or optical from the tv to your home theater. When you want to hear the sound for the tv you have to select the input you plugged the cables to. Hope this will help you out.
